We had the pleasure of having Barrie Bennett, associate professor from the University of Toronto, in our class today. Barrie has spent much of his career researching instructional intelligence, teaching learning, and pedagogy. Today he focused on teaching students with learning differences how to write a paragraph. After a lot of peer work, peer evaluation, and collaborative vocal writing of a paragraph, Barrie demonstrated his favourite learning tool: the concept map. Below is a very quick example of how to concept map his lesson on paragraphing. Brilliant!
